Inverlea Farm is a small, family-owned and operated farm in southern Bruce County, on the hill overlooking Lake Huron.

Our farm has been in continuous forage (grass) for over 30 years, during which time no commercial fertilizers, herbicides or insecticides have been applied to our fields.

We raise natural, 100% grass fed Murray Grey based beef, lamb, and chicken on our forage based farm. Our cattle are never fed grains, soybeans, corn, corn silage or grain silage, and are given no artificial or additional hormones, ionophores, growth stimulants or antibiotics.

We (Doug and Linda Peebles) have lived and farmed this property since 1990, while raising 4 children. Our three oldest have left the farm, although our eldest son Andrew continues to work in agriculture. Our youngest son Richard has remained on the farm to carry on the tradition.

Fencing and Buffers

We have installed fencing to protect woodlands and the Little Sauble River as it crosses our farm, from livestock access. All stock are supplied water from our well, and have no direct access to the river.

Reforestation

We have planted 4,000 evergreen trees in the river valley, and on steep hill sides that are susceptible to erosion, to eliminate soil erosion, improve fish spawning areas, and protect the water quality of the river, which flows into Lake Huron at Inverhuron Beach. As a result of these efforts, beavers have returned to our river valley.

Clean Water

We are creating a storm water diversion pond and vegetative filter system to ensure only clean surface water leaves the farm.
